Faraday Cage

I had a talk with a friend recently about Faraday Cages... (she didn't know who Michael Faraday was, but that was not much of a problem)
To put it plainly, metal enclosures like cars and elevators act as shields of electromagnetic radiation, in effect not allowing RF waves to get to a receiver within the car or elevator. Practicaly, that means that a portable radio or a cell phone will probably NOT work within an elevator, and, to a lesser extend within a car (a portable radio will probably have poor reception within a car without an exterior antenna).

PS Greek name for a Faraday Cage is "Κλωβός Φαραντέι" (in case you wanted to impress your friends :-)
